About

On a roll with the Bard!

Young Kiwis love their Shakespeare? Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand (SGCNZ) is once again here to prove it!

For the 27th time New Zealand’s youth gather to perform and celebrate the works of William Shakespeare at the SGCNZ University of Otago Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival 2018. Students all over the country come together in 24 Regional Festivals to perform 5- and 15-minute scenes from the Bard’s plays.

Experience first-hand the astonishing creativity and talent of young Kiwis as they make these 400-year-old words and works their own!
You might see anything from a steam punk Romeo and Juliet brawl scene, a Te Reo Hamlet to a classic Elizabethan The Comedy of Errors hilarity. Come and watch old favourites with a new twist or scenes from lesser-known plays dusted off and brought to daylight. Serving Shakespeare in these small, succulent snacks makes the SGCNZ UOSWSF a perfect little Shakespeare tasting platter, which can be enjoyed by anyone: from young to elderly Shakespeare newbie to nerd.

Check out the SGCNZ website www.sgcnz.org.nz to see the dates and venues for all upcoming Regional and National Festivals!
